The Echo was first unveiled in November 2014, but it was sold on an invitation-only basis until this week. It can answer trivia questions, tell you the weather, add items to a shopping list, and much more. On display at London's Defence and Security Equipment International exhibition this week, Cerberus upgrades dogs of war into scouts and more. The harness-mounted camera includes a microphone, and can be upgraded to include thermal imaging, high definition cameras, and an audio recorder. Normally flat against the dog's back, that camera springs up when activated by a trainer, who controls it over an encrypted link from up to 1600 feet away, and can watch the video through a hand-held receiver. The whole system is battery-powered.

To find out, he bought a $5 solar-powered calculator from Wal-Mart, pulled out the 1-by-4-centimeter solar cell, cut open his arm, placed the cell under his skin and sewed it back up. By comparing the power output from the cell below his skin versus its output above his skin, he could tell that the cell was indeed able to gather light and put out power. It worked, and Graafstra cut out the little cell. If Graafstra were attempting this experiment elsewhere — at a company or university lab — the next step might be to try this on a bunch of different people with different skin characteristics: darker, thicker, hairier. But for Graafstra, that was it. He’s not a doctor, or a researcher affiliated with a lab. He’s the founder of a company called Dangerous Things that sells home biohacking kits. “I now know for this particular spot in my arm the difference in a solar panel’s performance above the skin and below,” he said. The interface would not be more than two nickels placed one on the other. These implantable chips as per the DARPA will 'open the channel between the human brain and modern electronics'. Though DARPA researchers have earlier also made few attempts to come up with a brain-machine interface, previous versions were having limited working. The wetware is being developed a part of the Neural Engineering System Design (NESD) program. The device would translate the chemical signals in neurons into digital code. Phillip Alvelda, the NESD program manager, said, "Today's best brain-computer interface systems are like two supercomputers trying to talk to each other using an old 300-baud modem. Imagine what will become possible when we upgrade our tools to really open the channel between the human brain and modern electronics". DARPA expects that the device will bring immediate effect in the medical field. Scientists have proved they can control how beetles fly and walk by turning them into cyborgs.Researchers fitted giant flower beetles, which measure two inches long and weigh around 0.3 ounces, with radio transmitter backpacks and wired them to their limbs.This allowed them to electrically stimulate muscles in the insects' legs so they could control their walking speed, gait and direction.

Scientists are claiming a major breakthrough in the field of cryonics after a rabbit brain was frozen and recovered in “near perfect” condition – the first time an entire mammalian brain has been restored successfully. The procedure has brought scientists a step closer to fulfilling the sci-fi goal of living forever by resurrecting the frozen dead or installing the human brain into a robot.Researchers from 21st Century Medicine (21CM) used a new technique, called Aldehyde-stabilized cryopreservation, which protects brain matter associated with learning and memory.The vascular system of the rabbit brain was filled with chemicals that allowed it to be cooled to negative 211 degrees Fahrenheit (-135 degrees Celsius). This rapidly stopped metabolic decay and fixed the proteins in place.When the brain was later rewarmed and the cryoprotectant removed, the cell membranes, synapses, and intracellular structures remained intact.This is being seen as a major development, since the current method of freezing a human brain can cause massive dehydration and crushed neural connections – essentially, too much damage for resuscitation.
