Hi Tim

But that has not prevented a tremendous influence over the entire planet by us. Without even trying no less. When you are the yardstick people use for comparison, everybody strives to copy you. In my opinion they should not do that, opting instead to do things in their own way and style. And though this may surprise a lot of folks, most Americans would prefer that everybody conduct their affairs in that manner. Have you ever noticed how many things from all sorts of cultures has been incorporated into America? That is our way. Mix the best of everybody else with the best from us, and you should find yourself far better for doing so. It makes great sense to me, and has always worked. We are citizens of planet Earth first and foremost after all. Nationalism rates a distant second. Someday people will get it.

We have the influence of many cultures here too Tim..... especially the Chinese. We have every race under the sun in Australia and we are a much smaller continent. We even have Mexicans!! And I even met a full blood Cherokee living on the east coast that had migrated to Australia.  I don't know if the US is not trying to influence the rest of the world when you consider the US government are trying to bring democracy to other countries.... which isn't working for the most part.

A lot of the influence is through computers and computer programs..... for instance you don't spell the same as we do with many, many words. The programs don't recognise English..... when I post here many words are underlined red because I am spelling in English, but this system only recognises American spelling.  Sometimes I think oh! what the heck and spell in American.... smiley: eyes  It must be tough on kids using computers because they would learn one way to spell words in school and another on the computer. So America's tentacles reach around the world through computers.

Another way the US influences the world is through movies.....  movies are a powerful influence.
