Now I'm really running into weirdness here. So first of all, I need to make a point so I can get this out of the way.

It should not be interpreted in any way that I am implying that what I have found here is an excuse for humanity to not clean up our collective act. Unless we want to be listed as a sub species of swine, we will step back, look at what we are doing, and change our habits. Personally, I find it disgusting that a lot of third world rivers undulate, as opposed to flowing.

That said, please look at this piece from Oregon State University:

I believe everyone here remembers how I have made statements about some of the crap I saw floating around our oceans while working the seafood industry? Yes, it's disgusting. But not nearly as disgusting as a media that's developed an agenda to terrify the populace (and promote Agenda 21 possibly?) My apologies for cluttering up this thread. I'm going to gather some of the things this led me to, and start an appropriate thread. I could use some help though. Ideas about where to go with this monster?

I mean, when a university, one of the hotbeds of environmentalism, calls them on it? You get the picture.
