Well, relax Pen, and take it easy. Take a couple days off if you need. But I have something I would like you to try when you have time. Go to this site:

http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/iso/monthly/monthly.html

and download a package compatible to your machine. x86 if you have an Intel processor, amd if your processor is made by AMD. Use the download link, not the Torrent!

What is it? It's a Linux distro, SUPPOSEDLY ONE WITH A LIVE CD. That means you can download it, burn it to CD or DVD, and run the OS from there to check it out for comfort. (Yours). I had trouble finding a speedy site in Oz, so I'm not familiar with this distribution. If you're comfortable with an out of country site, then please go here:

This is the one I use, and I'm comfortable with what it is. All I'm looking for is an opportunity for you to see what the OS looks like. A live CD is slow, even chunky at times, but it will give you something like a test drive without having to install. I just want to know what you think (just like Windows really) before I make a recommendation on this. If it looks okay, I'll try to find a LUG (Linux User Group) in your area. These are friendly folk, and one of them would undoubtedly be happy to install a Windows/Linux dual system for you. Linux seems to run a lot better than Windows at Yuku for me. Can't say why.image
