Hi Raf
My dog I rescued from certain death at the dog pound, and he was possibly 4 years old when we got him. The owner sent him in to be put down. We tried to house train him, but gave up as he is an outdoors dog. Although he is a pretty clever dog. He has long hair and sometimes gets a messy btm. He knows the minute he gets a messy btm that we are going to clip his btm, and he wíll not cóme near us. Normally he is always there the minute we walk outside.... He is clever....so clever he understands what we are saying.... there are words we don't mention around him because of it.... eg. bath time, clippers......
He knows too that if the two of us look at him and mention his name we are going to do something like.... clip him or bath him..... he takes off like lightning. That is how smart he is. He wíll cóme to either of us at anytime, but if we mention his name while both looking at him he knows something is up. He hates being clipped and bathed. Its a battle royal to clip him. Shaman has to hold him while I do the clipping and so many times Shaman has blood dripping off him from Pookie's bites. Many people would not tolerate a dog like him for long, but we do love him, and we took on the responsibility of him, and wíll see it through to the end. I don't know how he was treated by his previous owners to be like that..... we have had him since 1998 and he hasn't changed. The vet told me to have him sterilised and that may change him, but it didn't. He is a dominant dog.... reminds me of a few people on CB....
