Super blood moons besiege Miami

WHEN a “super blood moon” appeared in the sky above Miami in September, the glamorous city’s streets were flooded with water.

Luxury condos were suddenly awash, Porsches were submerged, landscaped gardens with expensive palm trees drowned and wealthy families were forced to wade through foul-smelling rivers.

This wasn’t a one-off: it’s a scary portent of the future for South Florida’s most fashionable residents.

A super moon looks up to 14 per cent larger than usual because of its proximity to Earth. The gigantic, scarlet super blood moon is a rare astrological phenomenon that occurs when a regular super moon turns a reddish hue because of the moon passing directly behind the earth, into its shadow.

A series of very high “king tides” caused by the ominous moon left Miami’s vibrant, beach-loving residents watching the sea edge up their driveways and into their elegant living rooms. And the crisis is only set to get worse.
