Lately I have been seeing birds do unusual things that have drawn my attention to them. Unusual as in not their normal way of behaving or in places they are not usually at.
When we went to look at cars a number of weeks back a large hawk was circling low on the wind currents over a vacant lot right across the road from the car yard we were visiting. Right in a hígh traffic business district.
When we were waiting for the car to be delívered, the manager of the car yard rang hubby at work on the Tuesday and said that the car would not be in until the following week. On the Wednesday I went outside to see a large hawk circling low over our home..... it then went and círcled all the homes around our home. From seeing that I knew that we would get the car that week. We picked it up on the Friday morning of that week.
Then when we went to Wellington Dam last Sunday we climbed down to a lovely area and found a seat and sat down. Next thing we saw about 6 Wrens hopping on the grass about 30 feet away. We were just sitting there looking at them.....(apart from two abseilers coming down the rock face, we were the only ones there). Next thing two tiny Wrens flew down and landed right at our feet. About 6 inches away from my feet. We just looked at each other in amazement. Then we started talkíng to them, and the pair of them just sat there staring up into our eyes. They stayed there for a good 5 minutes listening to us then flew off.
On Friday I was feeling impatient with just about everything.....it was just a mood I felt. I was standíng at the back window looking out and a large Crane landed on our clotheslíne....ducked its head down and looked at me. I thought what!?! a Crane in the suburbs....what is that doing here we have no water in our back yard....eg. físh pond. Its sat there and looked at me for a few minutes and flew off.
I remembered seeing Cranes in a Druid book I bought a long time ago on their meanings for these birds.....so I got it out.
You can imagine my surprise when I saw that Cranes mean...: Secret Knowledge, Patience and Longevity. That bird showed up at the exact right time. Nature certainly speaks to us.
So I looked up Wrens... and they mean Humility, Cunning & God.
Lífe is a fantastic mystery tour for sure and nature does speak to us if we take notice.
